HOW TO GET THERE?

 

By Air:
The state’s airport is at Dimapur, serviced by IndiGo and Air India (including Air India Express). Dimapur connects directly to Kolkata, Delhi, and Guwahati, with a stopover connection to Imphal. Tourists then travel by road from Dimapur to their final destination. Alternatively, you may fly into Guwahati from any major city airport and take an overnight bus to Kohima or a train to Dimapur. From Dimapur, as per your itinerary and plan, we can have our taxi pick you up from the airport.

Kolkata to Dimapur: Multiple daily flights are available (around 1.5 hours), along with daily trains.

Dimapur to Kohima to Kisama Heritage Village: Shared taxis are available at Rs. 400 per person or Rs. 4,000 for a dedicated taxi from Dimapur to Kohima. From Kohima you can take a shared taxi to Kisama at Rs. 60 per person, or Rs. 600 for a full/dedicated hired taxi.

By Road:
A good road network covers the state. The state capital Kohima is linked to Shillong and Guwahati, which are important cities in North Eastern India.

By Rail:
The major railway station in the state is Dimapur, which is linked to Guwahati, in turn connected to the rest of the country by major trains.

Domestic (Indian) Tourists

An Inner Line Permit (ILP) is required for Indian (domestic) tourists’ entry into Nagaland, including the districts of Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Niuland. Applications are now fully online.

If you reside in New Delhi, Kolkata, Shillong, or Guwahati where there is a Nagaland House office, you can also obtain an ILP application form and apply there in person. About Inner Line Permit:
The Inner Line Permit (ILP) Regulation Act (Section III of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act of 1873) has been in operation in the Naga Hills district (present Nagaland state) since 1873. It was promulgated to safeguard the identity and existence of the indigenous people of Nagaland from exploitation by outsiders.

The Inner Line Permit is an official travel document issued by the Government of Nagaland to allow inward travel of foreigners and Indian citizens of other states into a protected/restricted area for a limited period. It is obligatory for all foreigners and Indian citizens other than those domiciled in Nagaland to obtain a permit to enter the state. This undertaking helps the Government of Nagaland regulate illegal immigration and generate vital statistics for tourism and inter-state business.

The Inner Line Permit segregates tourists and government officials of other states from other categories to promote tourism and development. Hence a separate Inner Line Permit (ILP) is issued.
