Our Mission

We are policing a democratic society and our duty is to protect the lives and properties of the citizens including their rights, to uphold the law fairly and firmly with due respect for the rights of the citizens, to prevent and detect crimes and bring to justice those who break the law, to maintain law and order, to protect, help and reassure the community of our commitments, for dedicated service with the motto “Security, Service and Sacrifice” with integrity, common sense and sound judgement.

Our Motto: Security, Service, Sacrifice

The three words that anchor the force’s identity appear on the Nagaland Police Colours and sum up its founding purpose: security for the people of the state, a spirit of service in carrying out that duty, and a willingness to sacrifice in the line of it — a commitment borne out by the force’s gallantry award recipients and its record of service both within and outside Nagaland.
